We’re recruiting for a new flexible and experienced Gas Service and Installation Engineer for a market-leading manufacturer.

The ideal candidate will be Commercial Gas safe qualified, together with experience of control PLCs. The business are ideally looking for someone located in the M40 / M25 corridor area.

The Role

The Gas Service & Installation Engineer role will involve visiting client sites, installing, servicing and repairing technical equipment.

Due to the nature of the role, you’ll be expected to be away from home for long periods and this is primarily a field based position.

Salary : £35,000 + van & fuel. Extensive UK travel and some overseas.

Key Responsibilities

  • All service activities on technical equipment, including but not exclusive to installation, maintenance, diagnosis, inspections, audits, emergency repairs as planned by the local operation.
  • Commissioning of equipment.
  • Servicing of gas appliances (Dryers, Ironers, Tunnel Finishers)
  • Resolve problems on client sites, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction
  • Maximise equipment performance in line with guidelines and direction
  • Provide technical advice on products and services to the client
  • Preparation for planned maintenance and servicing equipment including calibration of field instrumentation
  • Attend and resolve emergency break-down issues as required
  • Assist colleagues to perform plant surveys and audits
  • Maintain up to date industry knowledge
  • Provide customer training as and when required
  • Produce documentation from activities such as Expense Sheets, Time Sheets, and Daily Log Reports, Technical Reports, etc, regularly and on time.

Skills & Experience

  • Commercial gas safe qualified and registered (CCN1, CODNCO1 or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years experience from within production process plant commissioning, servicing and fault-finding
  • Experience of working with machinery control PLCs
  • Practical mechanical skills
  • Full, clean driving license
  • Excellent problem solver
  • Approachable and communicative – good customer-facing skills
  • Logical approach
  • Report writing skills
  • Risk assessment and method statement generation
  • Excellent time management skills
